Campaigns & Special Projects Coordinator

ONE is a campaign and advocacy organization backed by over three million people from around the world who are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable diseases, particularly in Africa. We hold world leaders to account for the promises they made and we press them to support better policies and more effective aid and trade reforms. We also work with leaders in Africa to support greater democracy, accountability and transparency. ONE operates from Berlin, Brussels, Johannesburg, London, Paris and Washington.

We are looking for a Campaigns & Special Projects Coordinator to work on the launch of three campaigns in fall 2012: a public event as part of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) programme, and two online and offline membership events as part of ONE’s Agriculture and HIV/Aids campaigns. The Coordinator will work closely with the Campaigns & Mobilization Manager to engage with our 55,000 ONE members in France on these key campaigns. S/he will work for a period of three months, ideally from 10th September 2012 to 10th December 2012.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, autonomous, creative thinker and doer, an enthusiastic team player with experience of working within a vibrant office environment. S/he will also demonstrate abilities to supervise projects, to be an advisor, to communicate concisely on complex issues and show the drive to help ONE move to the next level and help us implement our ambitious strategy. A significant experience working in new media is requested. S/he must be fully proficient in English and fluent in French and a generalist able to work on all of the topics described below.

Reports to: Campaigns & Mobilization Manager

Location: Paris

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Campaigns & Mobilization Manager to manage ONE France’s online and offline member strategy as it relates to the MFF, Agriculture and HIV/AIDS fall 2012 campaigns
  • Organize events, conferences and campaigning activities, relating to the above campaigns as required
  • Manage the network of ONE France members, volunteers and activists and keep them involved through appropriate member engagement
  • Draft blog posts and petition language for inclusion in campaign actions and on the ONE France website
  • Support the Campaigns & Mobilization Manager with artist and talent outreach relating to the MFF, Agriculture and HIV campaigns. In collaboration with the global New Media team, and the Campaign & Mobilization Manager, manage online content on the Francophone website, blog, Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • Work with the global campaigns staff, to identify strategic opportunities for member engagement and popular mobilization in France and Francophone Africa
  • Support relevant staff with the identification and development of online and offline media in France and relevant Francophone countries. Working in conjunction with other staff members, coordinate and implement elements of the campaigns as required
  • Any other duties suitable to the role

Required Skills and Competences (candidates should demonstrate how their experience meets these in their application letter):

  • Advanced degree in Journalism, Communications or Marketing
  • Proactive, a doer, capable of driving projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Well-organized and able to deal confidently with all types of inquiries
  • Experience of working with volunteers or the general public
  • Experience of working with high profile individuals from the public and private sector
  • Good knowledge of Francophone cultures and societies
  • Experience of working on large projects, including financial and human resource management within projects
  • Very good analytical, interpersonal, and written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage stress
  • Ability to respond flexibly to opportunities and requests sometimes with little notice
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible, resourceful and innovative
  • Excellent judgment and sensitivity; experience of working in a global or culturally diverse setting
  • Experience of working in or on Africa within the international development sector
  • General interest and dedication to the mission of ONE
  • Proficient in both French and English
  • Sense of humor
