Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC) is accepting applications for Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery Engineers, located in Houston, Texas.

Overview:

Chevron Energy Technology Company, headquartered in Houston, Texas, provides energy technology solutions and services to all Chevron operations and affiliates.

This position will be a member of the EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) Team serving as a subject matter expert in the area of chemical EOR. This is primarily a service team which supports basic and advanced EOR screening, pilot design, deployment and monitoring/optimization. Related technology development projects in support of chemical EOR (polymer, surfactant polymer, alkali surfactant polymer) include chemical optimization and coordination with industry-leading internal chemical EOR laboratory capabilities and experts. This position will work directly with asset teams around the globe to meet technical service and R&D needs, assisting with development of common tools, processes and sharing best practices.
Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical support to Chevron operating companies worldwide in screening, design and optimization of chemical EOR projects with a focus on polymer, surfactant polymer and alkali surfactant polymer processes.
  • Participates as technical resource on project peer reviews / assists for chemical enhanced oil recovery projects. Significant chemical EOR experience (lab and field) is required.
  • Develops, evaluates and deploys new technology and tools, provide consultation and/or recommend procedures.
  • Draws on reservoir engineering expertise to provide on-site support for EOR projects.
  • Works cooperatively with asset teams to provide coaching, improved work processes, reservoir management standards, and tools for water flood optimization.
  • Builds technical capabilities by representing Chevron at industry technical meetings, joint industry project meetings, and reviews current technical literature.
  • Teaches selected schools, seminars and courses concerning EOR topics.
  • Provides mentoring in-house to trainees from affiliate companies.
  • Supports company of choice strategy by demonstrating Chevron's technological capability to visitors and representing Chevron at industry technical meetings related to EOR topics.


    Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and broad experience in chemical EOR management / development.
  • Strong chemical EOR skills required. This position will interact with project teams, review existing data, and assist with identifying EOR opportunities using available screening tools.
  • Recognized as an expert or experienced person in chemical EOR, such as field surveillance, fundamental laboratory work, full field design or deployment or reservoir simulation. Acts as a focal point of chemical EOR related work. Should have sufficient understanding to link back to the technical community and develop work plans in simulation, laboratory work, surveillance, and decision analysis.
  • Demonstrated competency in designing chemical EOR pilots and evaluating pilot results and projects. Candidate must have a track record with EOR field applications with strong cross functional subsurface skills.
  • Willingness to travel to international sites to gather data, initiate, conduct workshops, initiate pilots and/or share project results.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering (Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering preferred).
  • Customer focus – Demonstrated effectiveness in determining customer needs, educating customer on solutions, and monitoring progress of initiatives/activities.
  • Communication - Ability to effectively communicate technical and project development issues to diverse audience.
  • The ability to be a self-starter who needs little functional guidance and has strong networking and teamwork skills.
