Job Purpose

To coordinate and provide professional leadership, technical guidance and direction in formulation and implementation of policies, strategies, plans and programmes.

Qualifications and Work experience

  • Honours’ Degree in Education OR An Honours Bachelors Degree in any Management/ Development Studies/Science discipline e.g. Business Administration, Social Sciences, Arts/Humanities, Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration, Economics, Sports Science and Management
  • A Masters Degree in Business Administration or Public Administration or Education Management and Planning or Development Studies or Policy and Planning from a recognised institution.
  • 10years work experience, 3 of which must have been at senior management level (Assistant Commissioner) or as a Head Teacher A” Level Boarding or as Head of an Education and Training Institution or Manager in an Education or Research Institution or Policy Management Development Institute.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Advises on the formulation of policies and guidelines in respect of Physical Education and Sports.
  • Oversees the management of sports development Programmes countrywide.
  • Advises, guides, monitors and evaluates the implementation of policies, plans and guidelines on Physical Education and Sports development.
  • Develops strategy for the development of Physical Education and Sports.
  • Advises on the curriculum, Staffing, financing and equipping of Secondary Schools, and Tertiary institutions as regards to Physical Education and Sports.
  • Advises on the organisation and management of Sports development programmes.
  • Liaises with the departments and agencies on the administration of Sports development programmes.
  • Carries out any other duties as assigned by the relevant authority.
