Director of finance Afghanistan
Chemonics seeks a director of finance to help lead and manage the anticipated USAID-funded Afghanistan Regional Agricultural Development Program (RADP-South). This program will aim to foster economic growth for farmers and agribusinesses through increased productivity and production in target regions; strengthen market access and increase the profitability of small and medium agribusinesses; build food security and support the adoption of licit crops, with a focus on wheat, livestock, and other value chains; and increase women's participation in high-value agricultural value chain activities. The director of finance will ensure compliance with USAID/Afghanistan regulations. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in accounting or finance, or ability to practice as a certified professional accountant required
- Five to seven years of progressively responsible financial experience managing accounting and finance components of large donor-funded programs, particularly in transitional, Islamic, or post-conflict countries
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including direct supervision of a diverse team of professional accountants and financial management staff
- Experience setting up the accounting and finance functions for large USAID-funded projects
- Ability to manage grants under contract funds
- Familiarity with USAID project accounting requirements
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Willingness to live and work in Afghanistan
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in Dari or Pashto preferred
