ERT Coordinator/OHS Advisor Australia

Darlot Gold Mine is located approximately 1000km north-east of Perth and is one of Australia’s largest producer’s of gold. This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8/6 roster.
We are seeking an Emergency Response Coordinator to help coordinate and provide an emergency response function for Granny Smith Mine Site, which enables the organisation to have fully trained personnel to respond to an emergency situation. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing ongoing emergency response training for Barrick Darlot personnel.
Major accountabilities will include:
  • Carry out procedures as directed by the Senior OSH Advisor & OSH Superintendent including emergency response training and coordination.
  • Provide emergency response advice to all Darlot employees
  • Assist in coordinating and provide ongoing emergency response training to Darlot emergency response team members, and participate in this training.
  • Assist in coordinating and provide training on site for all departments i.e. fire extinguisher, emergency controller training, and evacuation process.
  • Conduct team based risk assessments (JHA) for emergency response functions,
  • Maintain emergency response training matrix.
  • Assist Department Managers/Superintends in scheduling mock emergency response scenarios across site.
  • Maintain emergency response documentation, records, incident reports / debrief notes
  • Be available full time on-all services, however delegate the on-call responsibility if unavailable, after approval is sought from the Senior OHS Advisor or OHS Superintendent
  • Lead incident investigations which require emergency response representative.
  • Delegate or Maintain Fire Tender
  • Coordinate consultant and contactors site visits when required
  • Carry out safety audits and inspection to maintain a state of readiness.
  • Provide first aid treatment in the event of injury or illness on site.
You will require the following attributes to be successful in this role:
  • Demonstrated practical experience in Emergency Preparedness and Response on a similar size operation to Darlot
  • Certificate III in Surface & Underground Metaliferous Mine Rescue or equivalent Tertiary qualifications
  • Certificate IV Workplace Training & Assessing
  • Incident Command and Control experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Drivers Licence WA “HR”
  • Experience in First Aid and Occupational Health, preferably in a remote FIFO environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in assessment of injuries and liaison with medical treatment providers.
Experience in trauma management and emergency response.
  • Competency based training and assessment.
  • Detailed understanding of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Competent in the use of computerised safety management database
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels. You will also have strong report writing and presentation skills.
