Technical Device Researcher and Tester - El Salvador

You are responsible for developing Millicom technical Device strategy and roadmap in line with the overall Group Strategy. You are responsible for following latest device developments and trends ensuring that MIC technology strategy is compatible with availability of devices in MIC markets. You are also responsible for coordinating global testing and smooth introduction of devices in our markets. You are responsible to produce monthly device and application statistics and utilization reports per market, region and group level. You are also responsible to contribute to the overall profitable growth of the company.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Device Trends research and documentation:

  • Follow device industry trends and developments, produce regular position papers on technology changes, and produce on a monthly basis updates for the MIC management,
  • Deliver a technical device strategy roadmap for MIC group and per market (technology changes etc.) considering MIC spectrum strategy

2. Device Testing:

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a plan and conduct end to end device tests ensuring compatibility with MIC IT and OT systems (e.g., OTA’s, APN’s, SIM’s, switch software features, WAP/MMS/SMS gateways, etc.)
  • Act as MIC gatekeeper for a Standard Device Roadmap, by ensuring that any investment in new devices and network fits the MIC standard device roadmap and MIC standard network architecture.

3.Device performance and utilization reporting:

  • Produce a monthly device utilization report per market / region and group level.
  • Produce monthly device technical performance and statistics reports
  • Coordinate deployment of Network features and tools necessary to track, manage and measure device and application performance and behavior in our Networks.
  • Define Key Performance Indicators specifications and measurement methodology related to Device utilization and performance.

4. Produce Specifications for devices:

  • Elaborate technical specifications for devices in alignment with our network strategy and commercial needs.
  • Align Personalization & Configuration Settings requirements across Tigo operations and Device Manufacturers.
  • Analyze and identify best practices in device management, configuration, testing and measurement.

5. Tigo Device certification process ownership: Design and implement a device certification process

Desired Skills & Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Telecom, Electrical, Systems or related Engineering
  • MBA desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data to provide management recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Fluent in English and Spanish or French

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in devices, networks, and/or IT
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in dealing with teams in different regions/countries
