Project Manager

The Project Manager will provide Product System Management support to the various Arms of Services of the SA Defence Force for the In-Service-Support of Weapon Systems.

Principal accountabilities: • Analyse and interpret user requirements from the clients • Compile tender documentation from the user requirements • Compile value systems • Evaluate tenders • Manage all technical and contractual aspects of the contract • Advise and consult with the client, users and contractors • Assist with problem solving • Monitor contractor performance • Apply product support principles in the maintenance of product systems.

Requirements: • BTech/National Diploma in Engineering (Electronics, Mechanical or Marine) • 2 years’ minimum experience in Product System Management and Project Management • Knowledge of mechanical and/or electronic technologies • Maintenance experience in Naval Systems will be desirable • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities and above-average interpersonal and communication skills • Persuasiveness, leadership abilities and strong planning and organising skills.

Appointment to this position will be subject to obtaining and maintaining a positive security clearance.

Senior Manager: Corporate Strategy and Business Performance
The successful candidate will provide strategies for current and future growth of the organisation by suggesting changes or improvements to current business plans, policies and procedures.

Principal accountabilities: • Be responsible for all governance issues regarding Armscor surrounding strategic management of the organisation • Be aware of market trends, new developments, strategies and activities in order to create appropriate proactive strategies • Provide comprehensive reports regarding improvements or changes needed to reach current and future goals • Champion identified change management initiatives and facilitate effective communication of Armscor’s strategies • Monitor and report on business performance and
recommend interventions, as and when required • Compare DoD and industry strategies, review current and future financial needs, and forecast future DoD requirements.

Requirements: • A B degree • Expertise in Corporate Policy and Strategic Management • A high level of experience in change management • Strong knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures related to the business discipline • Extensive relevant working experience, preferably in a technical business environment • Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and overall visionary business leadership to support the growth and competitiveness of a hi-tech organisation or a similar environment • Demonstrated outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills • Demonstrated outstanding strategic leadership skills, showing you can provide direction • Ability to manage innovation and initiate and manage change • Good judgement • Planning and organising skills • Results-driven and able to work under pressure • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

The incumbent in this role will drive the marketing strategy of the organisation and contribute effectively in Armscor’s growth vision. Principal accountabilities: • As a member of the executive management structure, be responsible for all governance issues regarding Armscor surrounding strategic management • Ensure market growth through the establishment of market penetration, in-country relations and sales • Ensure the organisation and execution of marketing-related events through strategies and plans as to enhance the visibility of Armscor in the market • Contribute to overall business growth by identifying and prioritising potential opportunities, investments and strategic partnerships • Maintain a positive reputation and image for the organisation to enhance the strategic positioning of the organisation • Effectively and efficiently manage resources (financial and human).

Requirements: • A relevant B degree (Marketing Management/Business/Commercial). An MBA/MBL would be an added advantage • Extensive experience in Business Development, Marketing and Commercial Management • Extensive experience in working for a major company or division of a large organisation • Experience in partnering with an executive team • Strategic thinking, with strong managerial, leadership and interpersonal skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Good judgement • Planning and organising skills • Excellent networking, written and verbal communication skills • Results-driven and able to work under pressure • Strong negotiation and influencing skills • Innovative thinking • Financial management skills.

General Manager: Research and Development

The incumbent will spearhead the research and development strategic intent in responding to clients’ industrial capability requirements, and leverage commercial economic opportunities towards sustainable development.

Principal accountabilities: • As a member of the executive management structure, be responsible for all governance issues regarding Armscor surrounding strategic management • Supply a defence engineering and technical capability to the DoD and Armscor to meet operational requirements of the Defence Force • Develop, provide and implement Research and Development programmes, which will result in product development and process improvement technologies • Identify and utilise commercial opportunities, in order to grow the department and contribute to the overall strategy of the organisation.

Requirements: • A B degree in Science/Engineering. A leadership and management qualification (MBA/MBL) would be an advantage • Extensive experience in a large organisation (technical/research) • Experience in partnering with an executive team • Extensive experience in Research and Development. Knowledge of the Defence Industry would be an advantage • Strategic thinking, with strong managerial and leadership skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Good judgement • Planning and organising skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Results-driven and able to work under pressure • Strong negotiation and influencing skills • Financial management skills • Strong innovative and conceptualising abilities.
