Programme manager agribusiness & sustainable value chains
SharePeople
is a middleman in sharing knowledge between the Dutch corporate
community and producer organisations and emerging countries. Our
objectives include boosting entrepreneurship, offering sustainable
solutions, and giving insight in value chains. In order to reach these
objectives, SharePeople facilitates exchange programmes for
professionals from Dutch businesses and entrepreneurs/producer
organisations in emerging countries. These programmes focus on business
cases that can offer solutions to local challenges.
Since 2006, SharePeople has sent over 300 professionals from Dutch and European companies to entrepreneurs and producer organisations in agribusiness in emerging countries.
SharePeople is working on the development of a programme that facilitates exchange of knowledge between Dutch companies and suppliers in agribusiness in emerging countries. The programme’s objective is to find solutions to local (sustainability) issues in value chains which will benefit both sides. We are looking for a fulltime programme manager to expand this programme.
Job description
The programme manager sets up and organises programmes that focus on international and intercultural exchange of knowledge in which people are at the centre. Additionally, you will build client portfolios and expand programmes of existing clients. You know how to deal with the various objectives of stakeholders (businesses, producer organisations, NGOs) and, taking these into account, you are capable of developing common objectives and, subsequently, of monitoring them.
Network
• You will expand SharePeople’s existing network and make our organisation more widely known among Dutch companies with value chains in emerging countries
• You are the link between parties here and there, and you are capable, if necessary, of involving other parties in the programme
• You will effectively use and maintain relations with our local contacts/liaisons
Knowledge & Vision
• You are up to date with the way producer organisations in emerging countries operate, as well as with the problems they encounter, and you can relate to these
• You are up to date with sustainability problems in value chains
• You are capable of communicating both knowledge of local situations and understanding of larger themes, through presentations, pitches, etc.
Commercial approach
• You are a sparring partner at higher management level for businesses that operate in this sector, and you are able to translate their wishes into custom made programmes
• You are capable of clearly explaining to companies in what way SharePeople contributes to their business, and of increasing our visibility
• You know how to take on leads independently and how to make the most of opportunities when they present themselves
Profile
• Bachelor's or Master's degree
• Commercial drive
• International work experience
• Knowledge of value chains and/or producer organisations and agricultural cooperatives in emerging countries
• Available and prepared to travel
• Enterprising and ambitious
• Passionate, strong personality with a vision
• Self-starting and hands-on mentality
• Effective advisor
• Networker and link builder
• Excellent communicative skills in Dutch and English
Conditions
A varied and challenging job in a team (seven employees) of enthusiastic colleagues, as well as good employment conditions (SharePeople adheres by ICCO’s conditions: including travel expenses and our own pension plan). We are located in Utrecht, within walking distance of the train station.
