Operations Manager - Guinness Storehouse

The Guinness Storehouse is the Home of Guinness. It is Ireland’s No. 1 visitor attraction and 3rd most popular brand experience in the world.

Guinness Storehouse is home to the Guinness visitor experience associated retail, restaurant and bar facilities, corporate Business Centre and event facilities, company archives and the Diageo’s alcohol responsibility zone. It is also home to the Guinness Global Brand Team and to Diageo Global licensing. 

Guinness Storehouse is a challenging customer facing environment, welcoming approx, 1million visitors per annum.

There are approx 130 staff rising to 160 in high season. Catering, maintenance, cleaning and security are contracted out to business partners.

Purpose of Role

---

 

The operations manager as a member of the Guinness Storehouse leadership team provides strategic direction and operational management of the Guinness Storehouse.

The operations manager will put the customer at the heart of everything with equal emphasis on the internal and the external customer.

The operations manager will be responsible for ensuring all projects deliver on the Guinness Storehouse mission to immerse all visitors in a compelling Guinness experience by ensuring all project outcomes are tangible embodiment of the Guinness Brand

•           Co-ordinates the delivery of service across all service departments

•           Provide direction & supervision to heads of department & contract managers 

•           Co-ordinate regular team briefings

•           Project manage all major projects getting the balance right between team, task & individual

•           Provide clarity of vision

•           Promoting and assisting with the personal development of all employees within the operations team

•           Routinely deputising for the Managing Director

•           Both on operations management of the business and on the project management possess full autonomy to make & implement decisions

•           Specific functions within the role include:

 

1.         Project Management

2.         Catering Contract

3.         Facilities management including Cleaning/Security/Maintenance/Waste Disposal

4.         Liaison with on-site facilities steering committee

5.         Designated competent Health & Safety person for Guinness Storehouse

1.         Operations Management

•           Oversee all 3rd party contracts from point of negotiation right through to monitoring of day-to-day service delivery.

•           Develop and foster a culture of continuous improvement, benchmarking and review of quality management of the business

•           Provide clear direction and empower business partners to add value and support the continuous improvement agenda

 

2.         Project Management

•           Lead and support critical business initiatives and provide leadership, ownership and responsibility for planning, management and commitment of all stakeholders

•           Project manage future development of the Guinness Storehouse product and all capital projects

 

3.         Compliance Management

•           Management of statutory requirements in respect of health and safety, fire safety

•           Emergency response, crisis management and business continuity management

Qualifications and experience required

---

 

Qualifications

•           3rd level qualification in hotel and catering, leisure or hospitality management OR

•           3rd level qualification in business management OR

•           3rd level Project management

 

Experience Required

•           Strong operations management experience, managing cross-functional teams, preferably in hospitality tourism or service environment

•           Good experience in people performance management

•           Experience of the establishment, delivery and measurement of excellent service standards
