The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dynamic and resourceful Analyst to support the Head of Research Support Units (RSU.)
 The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations.
The position: This position will provide analytical, management, and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the Head of Research Support Units (RSU) office.
Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Manage the Office of the Head of RSU, including:
    • Oversee and monitor the RSU budget, by providing analytical support for costing and pricing of services, financial projections, and process analysis and improvement of various units
    • Oversee logistical functioning of the RSU Office
    • Oversee timeliness and quality of miscellaneous reports prepared by other support personnel.

  • Manage the Head of RSU communication, including:
    • Manage telephone communication, including teleconferences
    • Drafting correspondence, maintenance of official correspondence, managing regular mail
    • Prepare letters, reports, presentations, as needed
    • Managing the official Head of RSU email account
    • Managing relevant filing system

  • Provide analytical support and representation
    • Analytical support  to costing and pricing of services, financial projections, and process analysis and  improvement of various units
    • Representation as “acting” when required, for internal meetings only

  • Manage the Head of RSU agenda, including:
    • Scheduling for daily agenda when in Lima
    • Scheduling and organizing meetings, including logistics
    • Taking and formulating meeting minutes
    • Travel coordination

Selection Criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong analytical skills. Knowledge and understanding of economic and financial concepts and theory
  • Maturity and ability to interact responsively and tactfully with staff at all levels
  • Results oriented, with demonstrated competencies for proactive planning, organizing, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and judge priorities under tight deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish. Advanced level in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills

Conditions: This position is local, and thus limited to Peruvian nationals and permanent residents. Employment contract will be for a one-year term with the possibility of renewal.
