The
Kosrae State Legislature is seeking an attorney for the position of
Legislative Legal Counsel, based in the Federated States of Micronesia.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will have:
i) A law degree from a common law English speaking country including but not limited to the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand. The law degree must be from an ABA accredited aw school, or in other jurisdictions a recognized tertiary institution or recognized education provider.
ii) Minimum 4 years verifiable post-admission experience in the practice of law;
iii) Certificates of good standing from all jurisdictions where the applicant has practiced law and not be the subject of any unresolved disciplinary proceedings or complaints from any law society or bar association;
iv) The ability to pass the Kosrae State Bar Exam within 3 months and the Federated States of Micronesia Bar Exam within 12 months of commencing employment in Micronesia;
v) Experience living or working in the Pacific or in remote areas and working with other cultures in an isolated environment;
vi) Ability to enjoy a relaxed pace of life with an at times limited workload;
vii) Motivation, perseverance and stamina, but also patience, tolerance, understanding and a sense of humor;
viii) Minimum two checkable referees;
ix) Able to commit to a two year contract;
