Nickel Institute Communications Manager

The Nickel Institute is the global representative body of the nickel industry representing 75% of all refined nickel production worldwide. It comprises 26 Member Companies and is head quartered in Brussels, Belgium. Its mission is to promote and support the use of nickel in appropriate applications.  On a day to day basis, the Institute responsible for:
  • Developing relevant science on the health and environment impacts of nickel
  • Anticipating and responding to global trends and regulatory policies, which may affect nickel production and its uses
  • Growing and defend markets for new and existing nickel applications
Nickel is critical for addressing the global mega-challenges faced by society and the Nickel Institute is mandated by its members to promote the benefits of nickel now and in the future.

Position:
The Nickel Institute is seeking to recruit Communication Manager in its Brussels Office. Reporting directly to the President, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading the initiative of building the organization’s identity and public image and help to build the nickel brand, ensuring consistency in all aspects of the Institute’s communications.
  • Coordinating and managing all aspects of press programs, publications, website maintenance and new communication activities, in order to support effectively the strategic objectives of the NI and convey its key messages to stakeholders.
  • Managing the production, printing, publishing and distribution of  the ‘Nickel Magazine’.
  • Managing all other communications responsibilities such as maintaining distribution lists, communications logging, web analytics, electronic templates and compliance with communications standards.
Experience
  •  8-10 years of communications experience
  •  High proficiency in English – preferably mother tongue English with other languages considered an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related communications discipline e.g. journalism, marketing, public relations
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.  Highly skilled in writing and producing clear, concise communications for various media including print and online.  
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications principles, guidelines and best practices including use of social media
  • Excellent research, interpretive, editing, proofreading, presentation and interpersonal skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to deliver multiple projects simultaneously
  • A strong sense of cultural awareness and the ability to work with people across the globe
  • Proficiency with software applications including MS Office, familiarity with html, web editing, web design and basic video skills an advantage
  • Professional level skills in graphics and knowledge of desktop publishing for in-house graphics design and production
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, collaboratively with minimum supervision
  • Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with members
  • Ability to travel
Assets:
  • Any other language, such as French,  Russian, German, Spanish, Mandarin
  • Familiarity with the metals/mining industry
