Civil Engineer - Government of Montserrat
Applications
are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Civil
Engineer, Public Works Department within the Ministry of Communications,
Works & Labour.
Responsibilities will include:
Advising
the Director and, where necessary, the Permanent Secretary and the
Technical staff on the overall management of Civil Engineering Projects
by Client Ministries and PWD;
Assisting
the Director of Public Works in the preparation of Project Memoranda
and contract documents on all civil engineering issues;
Monitoring project expenditure against the PWD work programme budget;
Monitoring
the design, production, installation and testing of all engineering
materials incorporated within the works of the PWD Engineering
Department;
Providing technical advice on planning applications, in accordance with the Montserrat Building Code;
Monitoring the Assistant Civil Engineers in the planning and implementation of road maintenance works;
Carrying out civil/structural assessments and inspections of civil engineering structures;
Undertaking civil engineering designs and drawings using AutoCAD and various engineering software.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must:
Have a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
Good
knowledge of road and drainage construction and maintenance: other
civil structures such as ports, airports, bridges and buildings
At least Five (5) years varied experience in Civil Engineering
Have good experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Auto Cad software and other engineering programs such as programs for concrete retaining and gabion wall designs
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Project and Contract writing skills
In addition to the above, being a Chartered Engineer would be an asset
Terms of Appointment
Appointment will be made either on a permanent or contractual basis.
Remuneration
The position is graded at R10 that is EC $68,472 per annum.
Allowances
Travel: EC$9,600 per annum
Professional: EC $37,800 per annum
Telephone: EC$ 720 per annum
