Plutonic Gold Mine is located approximately 1000km north-east of Perth and is one of Australia’s largest producer’s of gold. This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8/6 roster (day shifts).

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Alternate Underground Manager to assist in leading the team at Plutonic.
Reporting directly to the Mining Manager, the Alternate Underground Manager is primarily responsible for helping lead the mine production function to ensure production schedules are followed to deliver required ore flow to the Processing Department at cost, quality, quantity and time required.
Duties & responsibilities:
  • Monitor the Mining systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods
  • Develop continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure achievement of these targets
  • Develop underground production strategy for achieving the agreed annual targets of the operation and review progress against these plans continually
  • Identify bottlenecks and use problem solving tools, techniques and business improvement teams to identify business solutions
  • Review mine performance on a daily basis
  • Ensure the regular review of mining processes using the appropriate research tools, expert advice and modelling techniques
  • Develop and monitor targets for reduction in equipment damage
  • Agree and guide Underground Foreman and Underground Shift Supervisors in the work allocation, schedule and targets for each shift
  • Daily coordination with Processing and Geology Departments on plant performance and ore supply and review of weekly ore processing schedule from Processing
  • Coordinate reporting to the Mining Manager on agreed performance indicators
  • Actively contribute to safety policy and new initiatives and implement change as directed by the General Manager and management team
  • Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices
Education & experience:
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
  • WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency essential
  • Certificate IV Business (Frontline Management)
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable
  • Good computer skills
