The opportunity
 
We are looking for a Mine Surveyor, based at our iron ore operation, Paraburdoo, to provide accurate front line measurement and positioning services in a timely manner.
 
Our Technical Services team deliver production services and support for mining engineering, geotechnical, geology, hydrogeology, surveying, mine production performance, explosives and dangerous goods. Operating from both Perth and Pilbara locations, the Technical Services team work with the latest innovative technology – driving the future of mining.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual with a high commitment towards safety. Working on a fly in fly out roster (8 days on and 6 days off) and reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, you will be: 
  • Providing accurate spatial data, plans and mining information to the Operations, Planning and Geological support teams
  • Ensuring the data integrity of the pit wall stability and movement detection systems
  • Providing site support for the machine guidance system and mining equipment calibrations
  • Maintaining 3D pit and site model currency in Vulcan for planning, reconciliation and Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) compliance
  • Managing survey data systems and conducting volumetric calculations for pit and stock material movement reporting
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have: 
  • A recognised qualification in Surveying
  • A registered Mine Surveyor certification,either Grade 1 or 2 with DMP or the eligibility to apply
  • Prior experience within the open pit mining environment and working knowledge of Trimble GPS and Total Station Survey
  • Experience using Riegl laser scanners and RiScan-Pro and RiMining software
  • A Western Australian “C” class driver’s licence
Your sound knowledge of 3D data manipulation and validation using CAD-based applications within the iron ore industry will be desirable.
