The Opportunity
 
We are looking for a Contractor Management Systems Supervisor, based at our iron ore operation, Paraburdoo, to ensure that Project Managers are aligned with the Contractor Management Systems (CMS) requirements of the Rio Tinto Risk Management process and all personnel receive the correct site induction, guidance and mentoring upon commencement. You will also issue permits for working at heights, confined space, excavations, crane operations and other high risk permits.
 
Rio Tinto Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) is charged with delivering the Business Systems environment as part of the portfolio of infrastructure and services that are provided to and in collaboration with operational business units and other shared service organisations.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with an understanding of the business process and the ability to deal with third parties for developing the infrastructure.  Working on a fly in fly out roster (8 days on and 6 days off) and reporting to the Superintendent - Contract Management System, you will be: 
  • Supervising, training and coaching contractors and vendors in procedures and processes related to CMS
  • Managing Information Systems and Technology’s (IS&T) on site representatives across all Rio Tinto Iron Ore Mine, Ports and Rail to ensure all projects are delivered in a safe manner by adhering to all rules, processes, compliance, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Liaising with Project Managers to ensure the project requirements of contractors is met
  • Monitoring and guaranteeing quality control by ensuring the standardised approach to delivery of CMS work
  • Managing Contractor Management System for the West Australia clients along with handling quality control and assurance
  • Supervising CAT 3 contractors on site and adhering to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards
  • Liaising with operations and HSE mine sites to ensure that all access to site is compliant and maintained in the system 
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have: 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing contractors, vendors and services
  • Strong understanding of process improvement methods and measurements
  • Sound knowledge and skills across IT services and communication services such as technical infrastructure, optical fibre, microwave and voice mobile radio
  • Experience in liaising with the Iron Ore business units along with the ability to be assertive with indirect reports on the site
  • A strong commitment towards safety and safe working practices
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills 
A diploma or working towards a diploma in HSE and a trade background in either Radio Communications or Information Technology will be highly regarded. Previous leadership experience in managing projects will be advantageous.
