The opportunity
 
We are looking for a Process Engineer, based at our iron ore operation, Paraburdoo, to identify improvement opportunities, through data analysis and field work in order to  achieve and exceed business objectives. You will also provide technical and engineering support to the Processing team including Plant Operations, Plant Maintenance and Plant Electrical.
 
Located 80km south of Tom Price, Greater Paraburdoo is an open pit operation producing high grade ore through a central processing plant. It comprises of three mines: Paraburdoo, Channar and Eastern Range. The picturesque town of Paraburdoo offers residents a range of leisure facilities and local amenities including a jet-serviced airport.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a basic understanding of the Rio Tinto Iron ore division, the value chain from mine to customer and how decision making and project prioritisation and execution at Paraburdoo influences the broader business. Residentially based in Paraburdoo (Monday to Friday roster) and reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, you will be:
  • Providing technical and engineering support to the Plant Operations and Plant Maintenance Output teams                                   
  • Analysing plant data and providing recommendations on appropriate courses of action to ensure targets are met or exceeded
  • Supporting the recommendations with accurate information, sound judgement and experience
  • Ensuring short to medium term management of the tailings storage facility
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:
  • A Metallurgist or Chemical Engineering degree
  • Experience in a Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering role within the mining industry
  • A manual “C” class licence
  • Experience working in a team environment
Experience with wet and dry screening, tailings dam, sampling, modelling, cyclones and crushing will be desirable but not essential.
