for IDH - the Sustainable Trade Initiative
The world is changing rapidly. Front-running companies are advancing their competitiveness by making sustainability their core business. The IDH Sustainable Trade Initiative helps to accelerate and upscale sustainability within mainstream commodity markets. We build ambitious coalitions and high-impact programs in order to benefit people, planet and profit. We are currently implementing the Sustainable Trade Action Plan 2011-2015, signed by more than 70 internationally operating companies and a number of civil society organizations. The companies have committed to invest hundreds of millions of Euros in their supply chains to make the production and trade more sustainable. IDH contributes 100 million Euros. Current programs include cocoa, tea, soy, cotton, timber, natural stone, aquaculture and electronics.
IDH is a dynamic organization of about 45 staff members based in the Netherlands. In the last year IDH has expanded its activities and now runs around 100 projects through 18 commodity programs, together with internationally operating companies and several implementing partners.
IDH is recruiting a Senior Financial Officer to strengthen its Operations team. This position is in principle for 6 months - from 7 October 2013 till 18 April 2014 - but in due time a contract extension might be possible.
Job profile
As Senior Financial Officer you are part of the Operations team. You will report directly to the Head of Operations and work together closely with the Financial Controller, the other members of the Operations team and the Program Managers.
The job encompasses both administrative, accounting and reporting aspects of the Programs and the IDH organization. You will prepare the monthly management information, ensure effective financial processes – both at organizational and program level – and advise the management team and the program managers on financial issues.
IDH is looking for a bright and organized team player with a strong interest in supply chain sustainability. You execute assignments quickly, are structured and flexible. It is easy for you to keep an overview and prioritize when required. You have a background in financial accounting or auditing studies and learn fast. You have at least 3-4 years work experience in a similar position.
Responsibilities
- Advise program managers and/or partners on financial design, planning, monitoring and reporting of the programs
- Prepare and enable the interim and end year financial audit together with the financial controller
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the management team
- Compile and evaluate financial program information
- Improve IDH’s financial processes, systems and procedures
Requirements
- Working and thinking at HBO or academic level with a background in financial accounting or auditing
- Minimum of 3-4 years of work experience
- Preferably experience with Exact Globe and MS Excel
- Fluent in English and preferably Dutch
