Respite Counselor

The Respite Counselor will be responsible for the care of children that have experienced behavioral and crisis situations, and are not able to function in their regular program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: monitoring of direct care services for child in respite care during the day, afternoon and evening hours to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child, and transporting a child to another facility when needed. The Respite Counselor is required to intervene directly when corrective action is needed, with their primary focus being child-centered; to provide services that meet the child's individual and group treatment needs. The Respite Counselor will be available for daily assignment within the residential program, in a support role, when deemed necessary. A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related Human Services field preferred. Will consider candidates enrolled in a degree-granting program or candidates without a degree but with sufficient related work experience. Minimum of four years' experience in a residential childcare settings, with at least 2 years at the supervisory level preferred.
