Logistician - Emergency Response Unit
The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has approximately 20 Emergency Response Units (ERUs) positioned around the world, which can be called upon during international humanitarian emergencies. ERUs are self-contained teams of specialists with technical equipment who can be rapidly operational on the ground. The British Red Cross is responsible for the deployment of Logistics ERU teams for up to six months following an emergency. Each team consists of four specialists that can be deployed in an emergency for a period of one month. We are currently looking for logisticians with significant experience in a logistics role (purchasing, warehousing and international transportation, customs administration) for our LOGS ERU roster. Applicants must be willing to travel at short notice (24 - 48 hours) to relief operations anywhere in the world. Specialist training will be provided.
Roster members are required to be available to be ‘on call’ for deployment for at least one month per year. If deployed, you will receive a salary of £25,818 to £28,400 pa pro rata and benefits to include a kit allowance, accommodation, generous in country allowance and insurance. Deployments of one month or less will attract an additional 15 per cent bonus.
