Job Summary

​Cardno TEC, Inc. is currently recruiting for a full time Staff Archeologist to work out of our Solana Beach, CA location.  The Staff Archaeologist is responsible for reconstructing records of extinct cultures, especially preliterate cultures. This position studies, classifies, and interprets artifacts, architectural features, and types of structures recovered by excavation in order to determine age and cultural identity. The Staff Archaeologist establishes the chronological sequence of development of each culture from simpler to more advanced levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • ​Directing data management for NEPA projects
  • Directing small cultural resource projects
  • Marketing to regional clients
  • Writing reports and sections of EA/EIS
  • Organizing fieldwork, maintaining schedule and budget
  • Inventory, processing, and curation management of archaeological materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Other Requirements

Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • MA degree in Archeology or Anthropology
  • Excellent written, oral, and computer skills
  • Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • RPA or ability to meet RPA qualifications is preferred
Training and Experience:
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Field Director/Project Management experience preferred
  • Experience in Archeological Survey
  • Experience with report writing and summary of research
  • Experience in organizing and inventorying data

Additional Considerations: May be required to work in project locations remote from their home office for extended time periods, and such remote deployments may recur with as little as three (3) calendar days intervening between deployments. May involve travel by air.
