Project Description:
The contract will cover activities under the access to justice and legal education component of the governance programme in The Gambia in the following fields: 
1. Access to justice:
— design and pilot campaigns on: 
(i) access to justice (justice systems and mechanisms); 
(ii) duties, ethics and obligations of law enforcement agencies; 
(iii) duties and rights of citizens,
— develop and organise sensitisation workshops for customary law stakeholders. 
2. Legal education, research, and training: 
— design and pilot an exchange programme with a foreign university/research institute,
— continuous training for judges and court staff,
— develop jurisprudence and research.

Job Description:

Qualifications:
Qualifications and Skills
• A master’s degree in law or equivalent; 
• Experience in the region (West Africa/Africa)
• Proficiency of English (spoken and written) is essential

General professional experience
• A minimum of ten (10) years experience in legal aid programmes and organisational development
• Experience with civic education and rights sensitisation campaigns for communities
• Experience in illustrative and creative publishing for a multi-lingual audience with different levels of literacy.
• Familiarity with Human rights concepts
• Knowledge of Common and Islamic Law
• Working experience in EU project is an advantage
