Deputy chief of party , Nicaragua

Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for an active, five-year, USAID project aimed at assisting Nicaraguan civil society organizations to strengthen their ability to advocate for citizens demands. This is a long-term, full-time position with an annual approved level of effort of no more than 260 working days for each project year. The employment agreement will be renewed on an annual basis following a positive performance evaluation. The FDI project began on April 8, 2013 and ends on April 6, 2018. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 
Responsibilities include:
  • Work in close coordination with the chief of party  
  • Oversee office operations and management, training innovation fund, and financial and administrative systems
  • Ensure that all aspects of the project's administrative, financial, and contractual functions are managed in accordance with USAID standards
  • Support the smooth implementation of project activities; the successful achievement, tracking and reporting of project deliverables; and full compliance with contract provisions
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in administration, education, public policy, business, industrial engineering, or similar field
  • Minimum seven years of experience managing civil society development programs
  • Two years of development experience in Nicaragua
  • Must be authorized to legally work in Nicaragua (i.e. Nicaraguan citizen or legal permanent resident)
  • Leadership and management ability and effectiveness in team-oriented work environments 
  • Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow program staff, implementing and cooperating partners, and relevant NGOs and government agencies
  • Ability to work independently, to be able to accept and discharge substantial responsibilities, to prioritize work assignments, to meet deadlines, and to exercise professional judgment
  • Strong knowledge of USAID rules, regulations, and procedures preferred
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • English at the FSI 4/4 level minimum; Spanish​ at the FSI 5/5 level
