At ActionAid we are delivering a bold strategy to provide sustained improvements to the poorest and most excluded people in the world. It means we’re creating fantastic career opportunities for experienced sector professionals who want to be part of an organisation that is making a real difference. Join our action to end poverty now and be part of something truly amazing.
As Head of Policy you will lead the Policy Team and take ownership of its vision in line with the ambitions of our campaigning vision and our new strategy.
Focusing on Tax Justice and broader debates on development economics and finance you will also deliver policy development research to inform our UK and International advocacy and campaigns. We will look to you to maintain the quality of research and output and ensure a strong stream of public commentary that balances long-term thought-leadership needs with shorter-term requirements to feed advocacy and campaigning. You will develop links and partnerships with other relevant bodies and act as a media spokesperson on issues as required. Also important will be the ability to nurture a high performing team and support the strengthening of policy capacity in ActionAid International.
This highly important role demands sound knowledge of development policy and practice, especially of tax justice, development finance and development economics as well as a good understanding of the macro-economic drivers and factors that sustain and perpetuate poverty and inequality.
Your knowledge of research methodologies and approaches will be complemented by experience of leading multi-country research projects. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate successful fundraising for policy research or policy advocacy activities.
Comfortable communicating and influencing at senior levels and acting as a media spokesperson you will also possess good knowledge of the policy cycle and its relationship with the UK political establishment.
This is a job share for 2 days per week, which will focus on the policy area of Tax Justice; broader debates on development economics and development finance; and research.
Please note, as this post is new to job sharing, it is being offered as a six month fixed term contract initially. The job share arrangement will be monitored and reviewed and if working well, the contract will be made permanent.
If you have the senior level expertise to make a significant difference to our organisation we would be delighted to hear from you.
