Background
UNDP Cambodia Country Office (UNDP CO) has two divisions – Program and Operations. Program consists of 3 thematic Clusters and 2 Units, and Operations consists of 5 Units. The Program focuses on delivering development results in the areas of Environment & Energy, Governance, and Poverty Reduction in line with the CO Work Plan whilst the Operations provide the supports services to the Program in delivering those development results. The Procurement Unit is one of the Units in the Operations, in which it provides procurement supports to the country office and projects in procuring needed goods and services. The projects include those are Direct Implementation modality (DIM), and National Implementation modality (NIM). The Unit also provides procurement supports to resident as well as non-resident UN agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Procurement Manager (Procurement Unit), the intern will assist the Unit in carrying out the following functions:
Post 1:
  • Coordinate with IT on the modification of the contract alerting tool, and adjust all active procurement contracts' alerting date after the tool is modified by IT;
  • Conduct a survey of existing hotels (*** and **** hotels) in Phnom Penh in order to identify newly opened hotels in the areas, to be included in the hotel database (a hotel visit is conducted with the procurement and/or administration focal point when relevant);
  • Based on the new hotel list, review and update the existing Hotel Corporate Rate Database for 2014 for Phnom Penh and provinces;
Post 2:
  • Review and update the Supplier Database for 2014;
  • Coordinate in organizing an orientation session to suppliers (to be discussed and identify after the completion of the supplier database for 2014). The orientation will be conducted in groups and by different groups in specialized areas (services/goods).
Competencies
The incumbent must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Required Skills and Experience
  • The incumbent should possess or be at the 4th year bachelor degree in IT or related fields;
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English;
  • Strong commitment and accountabilities;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skill;
  • Honest, organized, active and high moral character.
