Programme Officer Human Rights and Democratisation for 32 hours per week
What are your responsibilities?
  1. Management of human rights of the Hivos West Asia programme. You assess reports, provide feedback to funding applications, co-organise capacity building interventions.
  2. Registration of programmes and projects in the Hivos administrative system and timely reporting to donor agencies.
  3. Contribution to annual plans and annual reports to the Hivos management
  4. Development on new programmes in the fields of human rights, transparency, accountability, freedom of expression and access financial resources to implement these programmes.
  5. Building a network of stakeholders such as civil society organisations, activists, experts, policy makers and donor agencies in order to enhance processes of tolerance, rule of law and human rights.
You will be answerable to the Head of Bureau for Democratisation, Rights, Aids and Gender
What is your profile?
You have an university degree and a proven track record in human rights issues. You have intimate knowledge of the political and societal situation in Iran, Iraq, Syria and the wider MENA region. You have at least three years of experience in working with civil society activists from the West Asia region. You are entrepreneurial and you are result oriented. You have been successful in developing new initiatives and generating financial support for these. You have affinity with financial administration and you have excellent communication- and social interaction skills as well as excellent writing- and verbal skills in English and preferably also in Arabic and in Dutch. You are well organized, responsible, independent, decisive and energetic. You are discreet and reliable. You have a fair balance between result and process orientation.
What do we offer?
We offer a stimulating work environment in a professional international organization with dedicated staff, including international travel. Employment is offered for the period of 2 years with option for extension depending on performance and availability of funding. Your salary will depend on experience up to a maximum of € 3.716,43 gross monthly, based on a 32-hours work week. Travel cost are compensated in accordance with Hivos Regulations. We offer participation in the pension fund ‘ Zorg & Welzijn’.
