AGE Platform Europe (a.i.s.b.l.) is a European network of 167 organisations of and for people aged 50+ which aims to voice and promote the interests of the 150 million senior citizens in the European Union and to raise awareness on the issues that concern them most.
Since its establishment in 2001, to support its advocacy role AGE Platform Europe has been active in numerous European projects, covering a very broad range of issues, from technology (ICT and virtual environment), to health, long-term care and more.

Job description

Reports to: AGE Secretary General and AGE Research Project Manager

Purpose of job To work on awareness raising and communication tasks in projects in which AGE is involved; to disseminate the developments and outcomes of these research projects to AGE members and stakeholders; to convey AGE inputs within the project consortium and in liaison with AGE experts and members.

Main tasks:

To contribute to the development and dissemination of the results of AGE research projects:
  • Coordinate contacts with other project partners and implement projects’ dissemination strategy;
  • Collect information (mainly on health awareness and literacy) and provide input to projects and projects’ partners;
  • Promote projects findings to key actors at EU and national levels;
  • Draft articles for newsletters, press-releases, websites, and leaflets for the projects and liaise with AGE Communication Officer;
  • Make use of social media and other relevant media sources;
  • Update AGE website with information on the projects;
  • Participate in conferences and events when required;
  • Coordinate AGE experts and members’ input in the projects;
  • Help AGE Project Manager draft interim and final project reports;
  • Provide support to the organisation of project meetings (e.g. agenda, meeting room and hotel booking; meals, etc.) and draft minutes.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential requirements

  • Knowledge of EU institutions and procedures;
  • Knowledge of information systems, including electronic mail systems, Internet, social media;
  • Excellent writing skills in English.

Desirable requirements

  • Knowledge of graphic design and editing tools (e.g. Photoshop);
  • Knowledge of content management system (CMS), in particular Joomla and Typo3;
  • Knowledge of EU social/health policy, in particular policies and initiatives on ageing;
  • Knowledge of the 7th Framework /Horizon 2020 Programme, and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme.

Skills/Abilities

Essential requirements

  • Ability to work in small, busy multilingual team;
  • Strong communication skills in writing and orally with groups and individuals;
  • Very good networking abilities;
  • Full command of English and good knowledge of French;
  • Sound computer literacy;
  • Ability to be self-supporting and pro-active;
  • Analytical skills and ability to assimilate and process information on a wide variety of issues and to communicate for a wide variety of audiences;
  • Ability to manage a complex workload and to plan and prioritise.

Desirable

  • Ability to work in other European languages;
  • Creativity.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in content communication and sharing;
  • Experience in EU research projects;
  • Experience in the organisation of international meetings;
  • Experience in report-writing.

Desirable

  • Experience of the NGO sector;
  • Experience in information systems in an international context;
  • Experience with monitoring the EU institutions and reporting on their activities.

Special conditions

  • Willingness and flexibility to work unsocial hours and to travel within the EU when required.
Limited full time contract: 3 months with possibility to extend it until the end of December 2014
Gross salary: 2.600 – 2.800 EUR per month depending on skills and experience

Schedule:
