IFC is recruiting a Senior Power Engineer to join the Global Infrastructure and Natural Resources Department, which is responsible for sourcing and executing investment transactions in several industries, including power. The Power Engineer plays a central role in the investment team by appraising the viability of new investments and being involved in the supervision of IFC’s ongoing power investments. | |
Duties and Accountabilities: | |
• Support the development of new power projects worldwide and lead their technical appraisal to identify strengths and weaknesses, with a focus on hydro and renewable power projects; • Present key operational and capital assumptions for incorporation in financial models undertaken by investment staff; • Review major contracts (PPA, EPC, FSA, O&M and concession); • Support portfolio management and provide advice for project enhancements to both internal and external clients; • Maintaining and build power sector knowledge and support best practice knowledge sharing | |
Selection Criteria: | |
• Advanced degree in engineering and 10+ years in the electric power industry, ideally in the private sector and emerging economies; • Successful track record in one or several of the following areas: electric utility management and operations, power and energy transactions, generation, transmission and distribution operations, power system planning, project development, tariff setting, power plant construction and environmental compliance; • Knowledge and expertise in renewable energy generation, especially hydropower, wind, solar and biomass; • Operational experience and experience as lenders’ engineer will be considered a plus; and • Strong interpersonal, multicultural and client relationship skills are a must, as well as fluency in English. • Willingness to undertake extensive international travel.
