Quality Assurance Engineer-Metallurgy
Location: Patancheru, Hyderabad India
The Role
Metallurgical Quality Assurance & Quality control activities in Heat treatment shop
Inspection of incoming raw materials
Process/Product Audits in special process like Button pressing, Welding, Hard facing and surface treatment
Nonconformance handling thru structured problem solving methodology
Key Performance Areas:
  • Develop and comply with EHS and Quality Management systems
  • Responsible for QA & QC activities in Heat treatment shop
  • Daily heat treatment batch qualification by metallurgical analysis
  • Analysis on Rejections, Reworks, Nonconformities, customer complaints and improvement activities related to metallurgy to improve the Quality
  • Weekly Process audits and review
  • Process validation
  • Verify and analyze incoming Raw material quality as per Specifications
  • Conduct periodical Internal & External Process and product audits
  • Process validation of forgings, Welding, Hard facing and special processes
  • Coordinating required interdepartmental efforts to comply with quality assurance requirements
Your Profile:
  • B.Tech / BE – Metallurgy with 3-5 years of experience in relevant domain
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Manufacturing Industry .
Competencies required:
  • Should have knowledge on Heat treatment and surface treatment processes of ferrous materials like Gas carburizing, Induction Hardening, Nitriding etc.,
  • Should have Hands on experience in a Heat treatment shop with Sealed Quench Furnaces
  • Ability to operate laboratory test and analysis equipment typically used in metallurgical investigations in a Heat treatment shop like metallography, Optical metallurgical microscope, Case depth analysis, carbon analysis and Hardness testing
  • Should have knowledge on steel making and metal forming processes like rolling, forging and machining
  • Should have knowledge in metal joining techniques like Welding, surface coatings.
  • Should be familiar with various material and testing standards such as ASME/ASTM/JIS
  • Should be familiar with Non Destructive Testing methods and evaluation
  • Familiar with Lean Six Sigma methodology for effective problem solving and improvements
  • Ability to work in Cross Functional Teams
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
