Financial Analyst, International Services

The American Red Cross (ARC) International Services Department (ISD) seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering around the world by responding to disasters, building safer, more resilient communities, and educating future humanitarians. With programs and partners in 70 countries, the American Red Cross works to strengthen the global Red Cross Red Crescent Network in order to deliver critical assistance to some of the most vulnerable communities in the world, reaching 100 million people annually.
The American Red Cross is seeking a Financial Analyst to support its International Services Finance (ISF) unit. The ISF unit provides business intelligence and decision making support to its clients within the International Services Department (ISD). S/he will provide support to the assigned Senior Financial Analyst to ensure clients receive core financial management support, with particular attention to budgeting, reporting and providing analytical support for grant proposals.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all activity for assigned field staff to ensure analysis and execution of budgets, including ensuring proper cash disbursements and documentation.
  • Work with the Senior Financial Analyst to provide technical assistance and guidance to ISD NHQ and field finance and programs staff, paying special attention to internal, donor and USG requirements.
  • Prepare monthly reviews of financial results for all assigned projects. Assist with financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, expense analysis and forecasting.
  • Manage ad-hoc requests and provide guidance and oversight for identifying, recording and reporting financial transactions for the Africa/LAC region and designated NHQ based programs.
  • Support the development and improvement of financial management tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent years of experience) in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of three years professional experience to include a minimum of three years overall professional financial management experience.
  • Experience using large scale automated financial systems (ledger, budgeting and reporting) and spreadsheets/databases required.
  • Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential as is attention to detail, team work, customer services and the ability to work in a large, complex international organization.
  • Occasional business travel may be required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and accounting applications suitable for field financial management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in fast paced working environment.
  • Knowledge of US Government rules and regulations and fluency in Spanish are preferred.
  • Field experience within international relief and development programs is preferred.
