About the role:
 
This crucial role requires a skilled professional in the field of organisational development and capacity building to provide support to its Sections in the North Africa region and Israel. The work will involve providing support to the national sections to build their capacity in the areas of governance, management, strategic and operational planning, and growth of members and supporters. The role also has a regional scope, providing support to Amnesty leadership (from sections and regional offices) Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
 
The focus of the national-level work will be four countries in MENA (Algeria, Israel, Morocco and Tunisia) and involves some travel to those countries. This role involves building governance capacity of boards; working with the director and other staff in helping establish/improve internal programme and office management systems and processes; supporting planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning capacities, supporting sharing and learning among sections; and capacity support on enabling growing the membership base. The focus of the regional-level work will be supporting the strengthening of AI leadership and space for discussions and planning in the Africa region. There will also be some coordination of regional-level capacity building work. Direct experience of working from within the region and excellent verbal and written French, Arabic and English is essential.
 
About you:
 
You must have excellent knowledge and demonstrable experience of organisational development, capacity building and learning in the context of a small NGO in the Global South, with direct experience of working specifically within the MENA region. You will have excellent verbal and written French and English, Arabic highly desirable. You’ll have the ability to organise and facilitate training workshops; coordinate input from different teams, strong project management skills; ability to produce high quality reports; and strong inter-personal skills, collaborative skills, strategic thinking and political judgement. You’ll thrive when working under pressure and with flexible working hours. You should have an excellent knowledge of and work experience in the region.
