LEGALCOUNSEL MANAGER - Tanzania Ports Authority

GRADE: TPSS 1

STATION: Headquarters

Reporting to: Director of Legal Services

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract for Unspecified peripd

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

First degree in Laws

Computer literate

Registered Advocate

At least 3 years in the position of Senior Officer

DUTIES

Participates in negotiations, vetting and drawing of contracts, leases, loans agreement and other legal documents Ensunes the availability of pnescribed legal fonms and other documents.

Participates in neviews contracts between TPA and other parties.

Provides legal advice to other divisions of TPA

Coordinates litigations against and on behalf of TPA

Attends to routine correspondences requiring legal redress

Participates in preparation of unit budget and ensures effective control.

Participates in neviewing and fonmulation of legal policies and practices.

Offers technical advise to subordinates

Reviews perfonmance of staff and advises on development strategies

Formulates and develops legal defence and prosecution strategies for cases in which TPA has interest

Participates in Liaison with external lawyers on legal matters for or against TPA.

Gathers infonmation and evidence on cases involving TPA and compiles the necessary infonmation as required. Carries out negotiations of minor disputes with customers to resolve them out of court.

Perfonms any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

REMUNERATION.

Attractive salary within TPA Salary Scales/Grades as indicated against the post will be offered to selected candidates.
