JOB TITLE: Logistic Assistant
PROJECT: Multiple; 6 months contract (renewable)
DUTY STATION: Alek / Turalie Warrap
REPORTING TO: Logistic Supervisor
STARTING DATE: end of February 2011



The Norwegian Refugee Council is an independent humanitarian organization. Our task is to improve international protection of refugees and internally displaced persons, and to offer humanitarian assistance regardless of race, nationality or political views. Our efforts are founded on the principle that all human beings are entitled to a life in peace, liberty, safety and equality, as this is expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. NRC has been working in Sudan since 2004, our current programmes include Education, Shelter, Food security and ICLA.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Logistics Assistant is responsible for the logistical support and the procurement of supplies for NRC’s all program activities operated from NRC Alek / Turelie Office. The Logistics Assistant ensures the timely processing of all purchase orders, manages stock requests and the accurate entry of data on to the procurement tracking system.


A: GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise the work of staff under your supervision to ensure the correct application of their skills, knowledge and competencies to their assigned duties.
2. Ensure that staffs are motivated and inspired towards their work.
3. Follow up and seek the approval of the Logistic Supervisor on staff matters relating to attendance, leave and other issues.
4. Apply good judgment in the discharge of your specific duties and responsibilities.


B: SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Monitor the work of Store keepers and Drivers)
2. Ensure appropriate procurement (purchases) of all goods and services, and monitor the updated procurement status report
3. Ensure that all goods and equipments are receive and issue according to procedures
4. Ensure repair and maintenance of all compounds, structures and equipment
5. Training of staff on logistics and security procedures
6. Ensure that periodic reporting on stores, car pool and inventory is submitted as requested
7. Ensure that all vehicle movements are well documented – tracking, logging etc.
8. Authorize the refueling of vehicles
9. Monitoring of fuel consumption by vehicles and generators
10. Monitor maintenance, service and repair of all vehicles
11. Monitor the proper use and handling of all communication equipment
12. Organize collection of arriving staff from the airport
13. Maintain record of all equipment movements – from purchase to disposal
14. Preparation of accident reports
15. Any other duties, responsibilities and tasks relating to project and humanitarian work that may be assigned by the Logistic Officer when the need arises.


The Logistics assistant will execute some of his duties through;

1. The Storekeepers
2. The Drivers
