POSITION TITLE: Nutrition Advisor
LOCATION: Ethiopia

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Winrock is seeking candidates to provide technical leadership to integrate nutrition into a larger food security and livestock development program. The project will foster growth and competitiveness of selected livestock value chains to the benefit of smallholders; improve the nutritional status of rural households; address the needs of the chronically vulnerable through livestock-related livelihood and nutrition interventions; and ensure that appropriate policies and continuous learning are established.
Position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design and implement integrated nutrition activities to support the overall program objectives to foster growth and reduce poverty, and to improve the nutritional status of rural households.
· Lead activities to improve household nutrition-related behaviors, including nutritional awareness, communications, education, and behavioral change strategies to promote healthy and diversified diets; recommending product preservation and storage technologies; and increasing linkages between nutritional research and value chain development.
· Design and track indicators and targets for nutrition activities.
· Participate in knowledge management, M&E, and learning activities.
· Provide training and guidance to other staff engaged in nutrition-related activities.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent Winrock at meetings and events as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
Education: Advanced degree in nutrition, public health, or related field.
Work Experience:
· Minimum five years experience working on nutrition and/or food security programs in Africa, preferably in the Horn of Africa. Experience with integrated programs (e.g., integrating nutrition with agriculture or livestock activities) a plus.
· Prior experience designing and leading nutrition activities, including behavior change education, and communications activities, and designing and tracking nutrition indicators required.
· Prior experience facilitating or conducting nutrition action research and applying research to field-based activities preferred.
· Experience on USAID and PEPFAR-funded programs preferred.
· Experience working with rural farmers, women, and vulnerable populations required.
Required Skills:
· Ability to design and lead program activities related to nutrition. Ability to integrate nutrition within broader food security or agriculture programs a plus.
· Technical understanding of food security and/or agriculture programs.
· Ability to liaise with rural families, vulnerable populations, community organizations, producer groups, NGOs, government, and USAID.
· Strong communication skills.
Other: This position is open to qualified Ethiopian nationals. Women and members of minority groups are encouraged to apply. Fluency in English and strong written English is required.
