Research Associate in High Performance Computing for Computational Fluid Dynamics

CaSToRC is looking for a computational scientist with experience in HPC applications and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The position is within the EU project PRACE. The work concerns petascaling and optimization for advanced parallel CFD methods and codes to ensure that they can make effective use of both Tier-0 and Tier-1 systems. Through the applications-enabling work, WP7 will develop specific expertise on most, if not all, of the architectures which make up the top two tiers of the European HPC system. The work will provide best practice guides for HPC architectures which are important at Tier-1 to allow European researchers to make efficient use of these systems. The successful candidate will be involved in a joint effort among European partners to develop the next generation of advanced computer codes for petascale computers and GPUs.

Profile

The position has the following requirements:

  • PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Experience in the development of parallel scientific applications
  • Experience in programming with Fortran
  • Analytical problem solving ability
  • Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

Additional, preferred skills include:

  • Experience with the development of algorithms for parallel scientific applications
  • Experience with writing scalable codes for scientific applications
  • Good understanding of parallel computer architectures

Terms and Hiring Process

The appointment will be for two years with the possibility of extension. The salary range will be commensurate to the experience and qualifications of the candidate.

For full consideration, interested applicants should send by e-mail a letter of interest and CV (in English), and the names of three contactable referees to HR@cyi.ac.cy.
