About the Textiles & Apparels Program
The Textiles & Apparels program works with key industry stakeholders to address resource inefficiency and environmental issues in the textile sector. It is envisioned that this well help the textile sector to gain a competitive edge in the world market by showcasing its efforts towards a greener supply chain. The goal of the program is to promote resource efficiency and environmental compliance across the sector by working through and in collaboration with leading associations, buyers and financial institutions.


Jobs Position:
Short Term Consultant for Textiles & Apparels Team

Responsibility:
The consultant will entail the following responsibilities:

Environmental Assessment Program:
Work closely with the TL and all key stakeholders involved and ensure that the Environmental Compliance Cell is functioning smoothly at BGMEA. As part of ensuring the Cell’s sustainability, the consultant will be responsible for the following:
Coordinating between associations, external consultants, factories and M&E team to ensure that all 250 environmental assessments are completed properly and on time
Periodic field visits to oversee environmental assessments and improvement initiatives
Ensuring quality control checks on electronic environmental assessment database
Supervising and facilitating training sessions on the software for association staff so that the software is used in an efficient and sustainable manner
Work closely with the associations to develop a strategy for an effective communications campaign in order to raise awareness about their environmental programs amongst the wider business community
Coordinate effectively with the associations to ensure sustainability of existing environmental programs
Effluent Treatment Plant operation and maintenance:
Coordinate effectively with external consultants to ensure that the toolkit is completed on time and housed effectively within the Environmental Cell. The consultant will be responsible for:
Facilitating training sessions for various audience groups (entrepreneurs, operations and maintenance staff, service providers etc)
Developing a communication strategy to ensure wider uptake of booklets and manuals developed on ETP operation and maintenance
Laboratory Capacity Building:
Support the TL in facilitating liaison between the foreign consultants and the Department of Environment to scope six private/public laboratories in the country and assist the consultants in implementing measures for their development. The consultant will be responsible for:
Working closely with the consultants to ensure smooth interaction between them and the Department of Environment
Coordinating stakeholder meetings to ensure that points from both sides are taken on board in the execution of the project
Service Providers Website:
Work with the developers of the website to add further features in improving the overall site while at the same time be involved in extensive promotional activities to make the wider business community aware of the benefits of using the website. The consultant will be responsible for:
Supervising the developers to add more features and further develop the functionality of the site while at the same time work to make it sustainable
Working with a promotional firm to increase the visibility of the website amongst the wider business community
Facilitate a methodology to track the entire supply chain of the textile industry in the website
Cleaner Production Program:
Support the TL in implementing the scale-up strategy of Cleaner Production by overseeing the promotional campaign
Project Management and Support:
In addition to the aforementioned projects, the Consultant will also be responsible for supporting the TL in new project development and preparing reports for internal and external audience.








Academic Qualification:
Graduate with more than two years of work experience in the textile sector of Bangladesh








Experience:
Work experience in development organizations preferred








Job Requirments:
Sound understanding of private sector operations is critical

Self-starter, mature, with a flexible attitude; able to work in a multicultural, fast-paced team

Proven project management experience

Strong client relationship management skills and ability to establish strong credibility among senior clients

Team player with willingness to contribute as needed

Commitment to quality service, drive to exceed expectations, and proactive development of relations with IFC clients

Strong analytical and conceptual skills encompassing development finance

High level of proficiency with MS Office software

Fluency in English is essential to enable the staff member to produce concise written and oral reports
