Lecturer in Energy Economics and Technology

Salary: £43,350 - £48,400 per annum

We invite applications for a Lectureship in Energy Economics and Technology, in the Centre for Energy Policy and Technology (ICEPT) within the Centre for Environmental Policy (CEP), based at Imperial's South Kensington campus. ICEPT is a centre for research in the interdisciplinary study of energy and the environment, at the interface between technology and policy. ICEPT addresses key energy technology and policy challenges, including climate change, energy security and energy for economic development: www.imperial.ac.uk/icept.

This appointment is for a fixed term of one year in the first instance.

The successful applicant will be required teach in the area of energy economics and technology, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level, particularly for the MSc in Environmental Technology including its including its Energy Policy Option, and Imperial's MSc in Sustainable Energy Futures courses.

You will undertake and direct internationally significant research in the analysis and modelling of energy economics, technologies and systems and their interactions with energy and environmental policies. You will be expected to attract substantial research funding from research councils and other national/international bodies, publish this research in high quality refereed journals and supervise MSc and PhD students. You must also be able to perform related administrative tasks and hold excellent inter-personal, presentational and communication skills appropriate for teaching and representational duties. The ability to collaborate with colleagues and other research groups nationally and internationally is essential.

Applicants must have PhD (or equivalent) in an area relating to the analysis and modelling of energy economics, technologies and systems and their interactions with energy and environmental policies and regulation. A portfolio of research published in highly rated refereed international journals and a strong track record in research, obtaining competitive research grants from UK Research Councils/EU/other charitable and international sources, and experience supervising postgraduate theses are also essential. You must have conducted research activity complementary to the main areas of research activity in ICEPT including bioenergy/electricity systems and policies, alternative vehicle fuels and drive-trains and other renewable energy technologies, energy transitions, innovation and policy national and international energy markets, economics and policy.
