Research Associate in Nanopore Biosensors

Salary: £31,300 to £39,920 per annum

Start date: Preferred start date between January 1st, 2012 and February 20th, 2012

Applications are invited for a research position to develop nanofluidic devices for use as single molecule biosensors. The project is funded by the European Research Council. Funding is available for initially 1 year and renewable for up to 4 years based on satisfactory progress. A maximum of two positions will be offered.

Ideal candidates will have a PhD (or will have submitted a PhD thesis) in chemistry, physics, biochemistry or a related field or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience, with a strong background in nanofabrication and characterization, and specific experience in at least one of the following areas:

Single-molecule detection

Nanofabrication

Electronics and signal processing

DNA biophysics

Focussed Ion Beam/ Scanning Electron Microscopy / Electron Beam Induced Deposition

Programming skills in Labview and Matlab for acquisition and data processing are advantageous. You should also have an excellent publications record.
