Legal Specialist - Scrutiny Unit House of Commons

The Scrutiny Unit provides specialist expertise to select committees, especially (but not exclusively) on financial matters and on draft bills.

The postholder will provide specialist legal advice to committees or individual MPs, both orally and in writing, with an emphasis on pre-legislative scrutiny and drafting private members bills. This post will undertake research and provide advice as required by committees, particularly on the effect of proposed legislation.

To apply you must have a minimum of a 2:1, or equivalent degree and a professional legal qualification. Post qualification experience as a barrister or solicitor is also essential.

Salary: £46,071 - £61,255 per annum.
