Policy and Campaigns/ Media and Communications Officer

Oxfam Novib is a member of Oxfam International, a confederation of agencies supporting humanitarian and development programs in over 100 countries worldwide. It is committed to ridding the world of poverty. Oxfam believes people are capable of building a livelihood without poverty on their own, once given the chance to do so. This is why we support local projects in developing countries, why we lobby governments and companies to take into account the interests of the poorest people, and why we campaign to involve the wider public in our work. Oxfam works together with local partners to increase our impact on development issues.

Oxfam’s program in the Maghreb is a multi country program with partners in Morocco, Tunisia, the Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria and, in the future, in Algeria and Libya. This program is managed on behalf of Oxfam International by Oxfam Novib working closely with Intermon Oxfam, Oxfam Italia and Oxfam in Belgium. Oxfam supports local partners to implement programs at country and regional level on key themes within the framework of the Oxfam Joint Analysis and Strategy for the Maghreb. The Oxfam Maghreb program focuses on social and political participation, gender justice and sustainable livelihoods. These priority themes are particularly relevant in wake of the Arab spring which has opened up new opportunities for civil society in the region.

Having previously worked from Den Haag, Oxfam Novib plans to decentralize the Maghreb program in March 2012 with an office in Tunis, Tunisia. In this context we are looking for a
