Cyber Security Officer

Counterpart is recruiting cybersecurity specialists who will provide dedicated support and mentoring to civil society organizations (CSOs) to address their information technology and IT security needs. Applicants should have a strong technical background in information technology and a firm understanding of internet security issues, including familiarity with methods of encryption of data during storage and transmission, circumvention of cyber-censorship, patch management, and secure web hosting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Travel up to 40% to CSO partners in developing countries and provide an assessment and guidance on partner’s IT security. Develop country action plans to highlight internet security issues in specific countries and disseminate to local CSOs and technology partners, Ensure that beneficiaries learn, internalize, use, and propagate appropriate information security practices. Disseminate knowledge on information security and potential uses of new technology within country. Train local counterparts in select countries about IT security. Stay-up-to-date on new technologies and emerging trends and issues related to internet security. Participate in conferences, trainings and other events as needed. Other duties as assigned Qualifications:

At least 3-5 years’ experience in international information security. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required. English fluency Native fluence in another language strongly desired (e.g. Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Arabic) High degree of computer literacy under Windows and at least one other operating system. Solid understanding of internet’s building blocks: DNS, SSL, IP, etc. Strong interpersonal skills as well as experience developing solid professional relationships and providing dedicated on-going support to civil society actors (individuals, CSOs and/or media groups, etc.). Willingness to travel frequently. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple programs/activities. Counterpart is an equal opportunity employer.
