The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Pretoria is inviting applications from suitably qualified South African nationals for the Fixed Term post.

It works in the areas of health and nutrition, early childhood development; basic education; child protection and social policy, planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Drivers x2: GS-2

Duration: 1 year – with possibility of extension

Purpose of post

Under the direct supervision of Senior Admin Assistant, support the office implement the programme by providing transport for the office to undertake official duties. Provide collection and delivery services.

Key areas of responsibility

The incumbent will:

  • Drives office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel, collection and delivery of mail, documents and other items.
  • Meets official personnel at the airport and assist with hotel check-in and check-out.
  • Logs official trips, daily mileage, fuel usage.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery brakes and tires.
  • Ensures that steps required by rules and regulations are followed in the event of an accident.
  • Perform any other relevant duties, as required.

Minimum requirements

The ideal profile of the successful candidate will include:

  • Completion of secondary education.
  • Valid endorsed driver’s license (with PDP).
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations of South Africa.
  • Two year’s work experience as a driver; safe driving record.
