UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a Principal Adviser, Ethics, D-1, Office of the Executive Director, New York.
Purpose:
The incumbent will take a proactive role in fostering management and staff awareness of UNICEF standards in ethical behavior, the prevention of conflicts of interest, proper conduct and sound business practices, as established in the United Nations Staff Regulations and Rules and the 2001 Standards of Conduct for the International Civil Service. S/he will advise management and staff in order to promote a work environment that is characterized by high ethical standards and in full compliance with applicable regulations, rules and other administrative issuances. S/he will also work closely with the Ethic officials of the other separately administered Funds and Programmes and the Director of the Ethic Office of the United Nations Secretariat in order to establish a harmonized and coherent system across the UN Secretariat and the Funds and Programmes.
The incumbent will initially be appointed for two years. The contract can be renewed for a further and final period of two years. S/he shall be ineligible to hold any other post in UNICEF after his/her term expires.
Minimum Requirements:
• Advanced university degree in law, criminal justice, social sciences (e.g. industrial psychology, industrial labor relations) or other relevant filed.
• Thirteen years of professional work experience including ten years of progressively responsible experience in the filed of corporate or business ethics and related fields, preferably in the international area. Knowledge of current industry best practices relating to corporate ethics and business conduct/practice would be an asset.
• Fluency in English and another UN language, preferably French or Spanish.
