Human Resources Manager , South African Bank Note Company

Human Resources Manager

Prospective applicants must meet the following key requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/Industrial Psychology (preferable)
  • 5 plus years’ working experience in the HR discipline at a senior leadership level
  • Knowledge of HR strategy and transaction (non-negotiable)
  • Business unit Exco working experience in a sizeable organisation
  • Key competencies in strategic thinking and a proven record in successful implementation
  • An understanding of HR processes and practices (critical)
  • An understanding and application of all relevant labour legislation, ie LRA, BCEA, SDA, EEA
  • Self-motivation, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
  • The ability to motivate a team and work effectively as a member of that team
  • The ability to interact effectively with employees, managers and providers at all levels
  • Planning and organisational capabilities, including innovation and creativity
  • Strength in change management and transformation would be an added advantage.


The incumbent will be responsible for inter alia:

  • Providing leadership and strategic direction to the HR Department and ensuring that the human capital component of SABN’s strategy is adequately addressed
  • Ensuring the development, alignment and implementation of a comprehensive HR strategy and plan on Talent Management, Organisational Development and Transformation, as well as Employee
  • Relations and Wellness, to address and support Company needs
  • Reporting regularly on all HR strategic matters and practices
  • Managing and controlling departmental expenditure within the agreed budget
  • Ensuring the compilation, implementation and maintenance of a Career Pathing Policy and Procedure
  • Ensuring the evaluation of business initiatives and the determination of appropriate organisational effectiveness solutions to meet short- and long-term business needs
  • Ensuring that all positions on the organisational structure are profiled, evaluated and graded
  • Maintaining awareness and knowledge of contemporary HR development theory and methods and providing suitable interpretation to the Executives and Management of SABN
  • Ensuring that activities comply with legal stipulations, organisational requirements for health and safety, SABN policies and general duty of care in support of the principles of good governance
  • Ensuring continuous research and benchmarking of remuneration best practices and the alignment of the Company’s practices and policies
  • Ensuring the compilation, implementation and maintenance of an Employment Equity Plan
  • Ensuring the submission of annual reports to the Department of Labour
  • Ensuring overall risk management of the Department
  • Providing internal HR consultancy services that comply with corporate HR policies, HR and best practices and legislative requirements to ensure client satisfaction.
