Capacity Building (CB) Specialist FHI 360 Egypt
Position Description
The Capacity Building Specialist will report to the Organizational Development and Capacity Building Advisor and be responsible for providing training and technical assistance to a portfolio of civil society organizations (CSOs) to build their institutional capacity. Critical tasks for the Capacity Building Specialist include but are not limited to:
•Conducting organizational assessments to determine CSOs’ training and assistance needs;
•Developing tailored capacity building plans to address individual CSO’s organizational development training and assistance needs in areas such as strategic management, program management, information management, external relations and communications, and internal governance;
•Adapting or developing appropriate capacity-building materials and training activities to meet individual CSOs’ organizational development;
•Developing and applying innovative training concepts, methodologies and strategies, including communities of practice and e-learning;
•Providing training, mentoring and technical assistance to CSOs in organizational development topics such as strategic management, program management, information management, external relations and communications, and internal governance;
•Conducting monthly site visits and preparing detailed monthly status reports for CSOs;
•Developing technical assistance reports on a regular basis that assess the grantee’s growth and capabilities in a specific topic area;
•Holding regular debriefing meetings to report on CSO progress, successes and challenges; and
•Developing and implementing workshops on organizational development topics for CSOs.
Minimum Requirements
•Advanced degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited university;
•At least 5 years of proven work experience in the field of organizational development and NGO capacity building;
•At least three years of experience in training, consulting or on-the-job coaching;
•In-depth knowledge of and strong connections within Egyptian civil society;
•Demonstrated skills in program management, needs assessment, training and evaluation;
•Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations, particularly multi-cultural teams;
•Willingness to undertake regular field visits and interact with different stakeholders;
•Excellent analytical and report writing skills (in English);
•Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic;
•Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office programs, Internet and e-mail applications; and
•Residency in Egypt required.
