CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER , South African Bank Note Company

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)

Prospective applicants must meet the following key requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification
  • MBA or equivalent would be an added advantage
  • Accounting and financial management knowledge
  • Knowledge of IFRS/ICT
  • 10-12 years’ experience in financial management
  • 5 or more years in a senior management position
  • Knowledge of Governance, Risk and Compliance
  • Supply chain management and business process re-engineering knowledge
  • Computer literacy
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Communication skills (English – verbal and written)
  • Liaison and presentation skills
  • Ability to negotiate.


The incumbent will be responsible for, inter alia:

  • Providing leadership in the development, implementation and continuous evaluation of short- and long-term strategic financial objectives
  • Coordinating and directing the three functions of Finance, Logistics and ICT, in order to provide support to the core functions of the SABN
  • Providing advice on the financial implications of new programmes and business strategies
  • Strategically enhancing financial performance and business opportunities of the SABN
  • Overseeing the development of budgets and the provision of timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts
  • Establishing and maintaining strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in pursuance of organisational objectives
  • Developing policies, monitoring implementation and ensuring adherence thereto within the areas of responsibility
  • Ensuring that effective internal controls are in place, and maintaining compliance with IFRS, relevant legislation and governance frameworks
  • Managing the performance and development of staff within the operational areas.
