Organizational Development and Capacity Building Advisor - EGYPT FHI 360

FHI 360 is recruiting for an Organizational Development and Capacity Building Advisor (CB Advisor) for a civil society support program in Egypt. The CB Advisor will be based in Cairo, Egypt, and is expected to remain in the position until the currently anticipated end of the program in September 2013. The objectives of the project are to: 1) enhance organizational capacity of civil society grantees; and 2) strengthen the capacity of Egyptian civil society organizations.
Position Description
The CB Advisor will report to the project’s Chief of Party (COP) and be responsible for guiding the overall capacity building strategy and the provision of training and technical assistance to civil society organizations (CSOs) in organizational development topics. Critical tasks for the CB Advisor include but are not limited to:
•Developing and applying a variety of organizational development assessment tools to assess training needs of Egyptian CSOs;
•Adapting/developing appropriate capacity-building materials and technical assistance plans to meet individual CSOs’ organizational development needs;
•Developing and applying innovative training concepts, methodologies and strategies;
•Providing training and technical assistance in organizational development topics to CSOs;
•Providing in-depth analysis of organizational development progress and common or recurring issues at CSOs to COP and others;
•Coordinating with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Advisor and Financial Management (FM) Advisor to ensure a comprehensive institutional development strategy for selected CSOs;
•Supervising a team of Organizational Development and Capacity Building Specialists (CB Specialists) as they provide capacity-building assistance to local CSOs;
•Providing oversight and guidance for communities of practice and e-learning training;
•Preparing and reviewing programmatic activity budgets;
•Determining short-term technical assistance (STTA) needs and preparing necessary statements of work (SOW) for required consultants;
•Responding to requests from headquarters or donors, when necessary;
•Drafting and editing monthly status reports, quarterly progress reports and other documents in English;
•Representing the project as required at project-sponsored events and at meetings and events organized by project partners and other stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
•Advanced degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited university;
•At least 5-10 years of proven work experience in the field of organizational development and NGO capacity building;
•Demonstrated skills in program management, needs assessment, training and evaluation;
•Demonstrated skills in budget preparation;
•Willingness to undertake regular field visits and interact with different stakeholders;
•In-depth knowledge of and strong connections within Egyptian civil society;
•Demonstrated experience working on donor-funded projects;
•Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic;
•Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office programs, Internet and e-mail applications; and
•Residency or previous experience in Egypt highly desirable.
