For our head office in Amsterdam we are looking for a Senior ICT & Media Advisor (32 - 40 hours)

As senior advisor it is your job to support and advise staff in using ICT & Media effectively in our programs with war-affected children. In this crucial position you will be moving between all levels in the organisation, regarding (the development of) ICT & Media standards, tools and strategy and to ensure effective and appropriate application of ICT & Media in War Child programs.

In War Child, the use of ICT & Media tools in our programs has become an important means to reach more children and young people affected by war. ICT & Media tools are applied as creative methods to work with children, young people and others who directly and indirectly influence their well being. ICT & Media have the potential to increase the quality, impact and transparency of everything we do.

Key responsibilities
• Focal point for ICT & Media 4 Development: provide support and advise regarding the use of ICT and Media in the development and implementation of programs;
• Develop capacity of staff throughout the organisation and advise Head Office and field staff in effective use of different ICT & Media tools in War Child programs;
• Monitor the use of (all types of) ICT & Media methods and tools applied in field programs;
• Further develop strategy and shared standards regarding the use of creative methods, tools and guidelines on mainstreaming the use of ICT & Media;
• Mobilise stakeholders, seek collaboration and lead further development of War Child regarding the development and use of ICT & Media tools;
• Update and link program initiatives in different countries and stimulate knowledge sharing, learning and management;
• Actively apply own network to improve War Child’s use of ICT & Media.

This is a temporary position. You will be offered an employment contract for 12 months.

Profile
You have a relevant academic background (e.g. Social Sciences; International Development Studies; Information Technology; ICT in Development). As a senior expert you are combining a strategic vision about the use of ICT & Media 4 development with practical knowledge and experience in the implementation of ICT & Media tools in development programs. You have up to date knowledge of ‘best practices’ in ICT & Media 4 Development and a broad network in this field; You have experience with capacity building of staff and experience in training and tool development is an advantage. Obviously you have excellent collaboration skills and preferably you have worked in an organisation with a focus on child (rights). You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably, Dutch, French and/or Spanish and you are flexible and prepared to travel regularly to War Child program countries.

As senior advisor you are part of the Programs Support Department (PSD).You will work in close collaboration with colleagues at different levels of the organisation and travel regularly to War Child program countries.
