Director of Ethics (m/f)
This position is based in Dubai.

Reports to VP and Senior Counsel for Ethics and Compliance and supports the EMEA-APAC region providing front line support of the Compliance and Ethics program maintaining a culture of integrity and regulatory compliance, preserving the reputation of the company and brand. Oversees the ethics-related activities of personnel domiciled in Western Union Regional offices who serve as ethics liaisons.

Your responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Code of Conduct and various ethics-related policies and procedures, including anti-corruption, anti-bribery, gifts and entertainment, and conflict of interest policies
  • Works collaboratively with management and employees in other departments, such as Compliance, Legal, Human Resources, Audit, and Finance with respect to the application and enforcement of Western Union's Code of Conduct and ethics-related policies
  • Receives, investigates, and resolves suspected ethical, legal and policy violations
  • Create and deliver training and presentations on various legal and compliance topics, including introduction of the Western Union Ethics and Compliance program
  • Researches and analyzes complex legal issues and interprets statutes, regulations, guidance, international conventions and directives, and case law related to the ethics functions
  • Guides business leaders in achievement of business goals while avoiding losses and building the business in a sustainable and profitable manner
  • Build relationships and knowledge of the business in the region and act as point of contact to provide regional oversight of Western Union's Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable international, country, and local laws and regulations, Western Union policies, and the Code of Conduct; and conduct periodic risk assessments
  • Coordinate and support regional application of Corporate Compliance and Ethics Office programs and special projects

Qualifications

  • Doctorate (or equivalent) and admission to practice law in local jurisdiction preferred, but not required
  • 4-8 years of experience in corporate law or law firm environment
  • General business law and compliance related legal knowledge and experience required; knowledge of anti-bribery regulation preferred
  • Previous experience in development and management of comprehensive compliance programs and investigations of compliance or human resources matters
  • Client service skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and effective business counseling and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently, make practical, timely, solution oriented decisions, while determining superior judgment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and employees in other departments, such as human resources, audit, and finance
  • Experience working with international companies and with differing work styles and cultures a plus
  • Fluency in multiple languages a plus, but not required
