About the Job:
Developing World Markets (DWM) is seeking an Associate for its Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) debt team. The Associate will join a growing number of finance professionals with a social mission and commitment to sustainable economic development. The Associate will be a member of EECA debt team and will help conceive and execute the firm's fixed income strategy for the region, assist the firm in the development and marketing of all the firm's products in EECA, and participate in the management of client relationships in EECA. S/he will report directly to the relationship manager and debt team leader for EECA. The position will be based at DWM's head office in Stamford, CT.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Assisting in developing a strategy to originate and execute on socially positive lending transactions throughout EECA;
Building out an EECA debt portfolio for DWM managed investment vehicles designed to maximize social and financial impact in the region as well as profitability to the firm;
Originating, maintaining and expanding client lending relationships in EECA;
Liaising with the equity and capital markets teams on transactions involving EECA;
Performing due diligence and financial analysis;
Preparing investment proposals for EECA debt transactions;
Assisting in the development of new products for the region;
Assisting in and/or reviewing the preparation of transaction documents;
Planning and participating in regional marketing trips and attending conferences;
Researching special projects and presenting results.

Qualifications:

College or graduate degree, ideally with a financial or business related concentration, MBA or equivalent is preferred;
At least 2 years of experience in or with any of the relevant countries in investment banking, corporate finance, and/or deal oriented financial analysis. Preference for experience in international development, socially responsible investing, and/or a local, specialized microfinance rating agency;
Strong ability to conduct financial analysis;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills;
Solid organizational & time management skills;
Ability to represent the firm with potential and actual clients including extensive travel to the relevant countries;
Demonstrated social commitment;
Foreign language ability with preference Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian, Albanian or Russian;
Proof of ability to work in the United States.
